In collaboration with White Rose Aqua Cremation (White Rose), active Hemlock Society of San Diego (HSSD) members can take advantage of complimentary legal, group, unwitnessed pet and human ash sea release.
White Rose is honored to be the only mortuary partner in 2026 offering this complimentary sea ash release for active HSSD members, a gesture that reflects shared values of peace, autonomy, and respect for every ending.
In the spirit of community and gratitude, HSSD warmly encourages members who use this free service to consider making a donation to support HSSD’s ongoing education, outreach, and advocacy. Your gift, given in lieu of traditional mortuary costs, helps sustain programs that ensure Hemlock members can approach life’s final choices with confidence, compassion, and care.

Members requesting this service must provide to White Rose:
- a copy of the death certificate
- the original disposition permit
- the ashes in legal urn
3 ways to deliver your loved one’s ashes to White Rose:
- In-person at the White Rose office, 820 West Washington Ave. Escondido, CA 92025.
- In-person at a HSSD meeting. Requestor must arrange this through David Perfito of White Rose prior to the meeting (442)-777-6077
- Via US Mail. The postal office has specific regulations outlined in Publication 139, How to Package and Ship Cremated Remains

Email hemlockSanDiego@gmail.com with the subject line “ash release.” Hemlock will confirm your active membership and email White Rose with a cc to you. Then White Rose will make the arrangements.
