Leaders: Register for the Getting Started Zoom meeting here.

Hemlock Circles are small group gatherings focused on end-of-life issues.

At Hemlock, we believe in the power of community and the importance of open, thoughtful dialogue about end-of-life issues. Unfortunately, we can only bring our large, in-person events to a small portion of our members each year. Inspired by Board President Janet Hager’s lunch discussion group in North County San Diego, the best of Hemlock Society is coming to you, wherever you are. We want all of our members to have the same opportunity to connect more personally, learn from each other, and explore the many facets of what it means to live and die with dignity, all within their own neighborhood

Hemlock Circle Basics

Any member can start a Hemlock Circle in their community; and anyone, member or not, can join a Circle. Circles are small, with 8 to 10 members. With support and guidance from Hemlock Society, Circle Leaders schedule and lead gatherings for their group.

If you are feeling inspired, know there are no restrictions on the type of Hemlock Circle you can form or rules about how you meet. Form a bookclub, watch Zoom events together, discuss developments in the right to die movement — the choice is yours!

Why Join a Hemlock Circle?

  • Connect: Spend time with like-minded individuals who share your interest in open, honest discussions about end-of-life care and choices.
  • Learn: Benefit from the diverse experiences and knowledge within your community.
  • Support: Find and offer support in a group that understands the importance of planning for the end-of-life.
