This is the kind of sad story that could easily come from anywhere in the U.S. While Medical Aid in Dying Laws passed in several states in recent years help those who are clearly within 6 months of dying, they are no help for the hundreds of thousands of people who suffer from painful, debilitating and irremediable diseases that force them into often humiliating conditions in the last years of life.
